How could anyone get used to a exsistance like this? No matter where he was, outside, in his house, in a theater, or in the middle of the park, he was constantly bombarded with the reminder that he wasn't normal. That he wasn't even human. Normal people didn't sit on a park bench as a test to themselves. Normal people didn't hear other people's heartbeats throbbing in their ears like pounding drums, nor could they smell the scent of sweet blood pumping through their veins just underneath their skin. At first it had been almost unbearable. All Kale had wanted to way was lay waste around him, grabbing anything, anyone in sit and tearing into their throat, letting their blood flow over his tongue and his face, to revel in the feel of the liquid coat his skin. But now, that feeling wasn't so bad. After a year and a half, it was almost bearable to him. Of course he had his good days, and his bad days where he just wanted to say fuck it and become the monster that people believed vampires to be. But today was a good day, and he had been able to spend most of the day outside among the people doing normal human things, like walk in the park, or go see a movie. He was learning to control his cravings, and his reaction to those cravings, but he wasn't so sure if he would ever really get over this feeling.
But like he had said, today was a good day. Laying on his couch in the middle of his living room, he sighed shifting his hands underneath his head to be more comfortable. Of course his 6'8 frame didn't really fit on the damn thing, but he made the best of it. Looking up at the ceiling, he couldn't help but think of the problem that might be occurring in the near future. So Kale was a vampire. That he could live with. He was also at the moment, living with a 10 year old ghost boy who saw Kale as a brother even though he had only met him a few days ago. And in a few minutes, he would be adding a werewolf girl to the mix. And you thought your life was messed up. A couple of days ago, he had been walking home from the theater, and had picked up a little stalker on the way. Next thing he knew, Matty had moved himself in to one of the upstairs bedrooms and had already started making himself a home. But yesterday, he had gotten a call from Hannah, one of his only friends, saying she needed a place to stay. Of course he said yes, but he had forgotten to mention that his ghost friend would be there as well.
Things were about to get crowded soon, with a vampire and a ghost and a werewolf in the house. Sadly, if Hannah had been human, he would have said no. The temptation of tearing out her throat in the middle of the night would have been far to great for him to deal with. But luckily, Hannah was a full moon baby, so everything had ended up working out alright. Kale liked her, for more than the reason that she knew what he was. Supernaturals just seemed to know each other by glances and so he had instantly known what she was when he had met her. A few months later, he had some how found himself telling her about his own little blood sucking problem. If was funny how not being human drew people together. And that brings us to this moment. Hannah had asked for a place to stay, well actually Kale had offered a place to stay, and she had said yes. Now she was on her way down with all of her stuff. Not really doing anything, he was just waiting for her to get there. Just about to close his eyes, Kale jumped slightly when someone knocked on the door. Smiling, he jumped up to his feet and quickly answered the door, "Why hello you" The vampire just hoped that the werewolf wouldn't mind the ghost. Luckily Matty was out right now, probably floating behind people writing stories of them like he liked to do. Ah, she would just have to met him later.

Hannah had a…furry little problem. She turned into a monstrous wolf like creature once a month and completely lost all humanity that she had ever acquired over her twenty-three years of life previous to acquiring this condition. The blond was pained at the thought of what she could do and what she had done. So when she met someone who knew her pain, knew the struggle of attempting to keep himself or herself sane after a problem was thrust upon you Hannah felt relieved. She felt like she wasn’t as alone as she had previously thought. This was exactly what had transpired when she had met one Kale Myle-Rae Cooper. While she had her furry little problem, he had his own bloodsucking problem. Hannah almost jumped up and kissed him right then and there after he had told her about his own faults. They had been friends for a few months but it was always comforting around Kale, she wasn’t afraid she was going to hurt him or draw suspicion to herself by playfully hitting him harder than she should or talking about her once a month transformation from human to beast.
But this shared connection was only part of the reason Hannah was currently hauling her worldly possessions to Kale’s house. A week ago her landlord, frustrated with her occasional broken items and…walls had kicked her out. Ever since then the blond had been living in a hostel with only a large duffle bag to call her own. She had spoken to Kale on the phone and had let it slip that she didn’t have a place to live. Hannah hadn’t been expecting that he would offer her something right then and there, he offered to let her stay at his place. The blond had begun to refuse but realized that she really had no other place to live. So she had accepted with a smile on her face. Which was the main reason to what had brought her to the house of Kale the vampire and fellow member of attempting to hold onto one’s sanity.
Knocking on his door Hannah glanced around as she waited for it to be open, her blue eyes taking in the neighborhood. It seemed like a good neighborhood, at least from a first glance. Not that she expected anything less of Kale, he always seemed well kept despite his problems. The door opened to reveal a tall smiling, well built man vampire in front of her who she had been looking forward to seeing. Smiling back she hugged him for a moment before pulling away. Not the usual greeting but she was happy to have Kale as a friend. ”Thank you so much for letting me stay. I promise I’ll pay rent and everything.” Hannah said with another gentle smile before stepping carrying her large duffle bag full of her belongings. Her eyes immediately looked over the interior of the place, running a hand along the banister before she stopped herself. Looking back over at Kale she let out another easy smile, ”It’s a nice place.”
Making her way toward the kitchen she took in the furnishings and noticed the tidy set up. She almost felt guilty already. After all with her around her might have a few things broken on occasion. If it was a day before the full moon Hannah’s capacity for patient always seemed to slip and there had been a few occasions where that had caused her to break something nearby. She looked away and set her duffle bag down before heading into the kitchen. It was nice and Hannah knew she would be making a number of meals and goodies for the two of them in there. Baking had replaced piano playing as a release for her. To calm herself she had started to bake, unable to play the piano or the violin after her parents had died. She hadn’t touched either in three years, but there were times when a song would hit her or she would hear something and her fingers itched to play, moving on their own.

As he thought this, a tiny voice in the back of his head shouted at him that he would. Maybe he would, he couldn't really decide. Before he had become what he was, his whole life had been devoted to his family. When his little sister had been born, she had instantly become his whole life. It had been the same way when his brother had been born. There was nothing that he wouldn't have done for them and that feeling had only been amplified when their father had died. Hell, he had basically given up his life for them and his mother. As soon as his father had passed, he had automatically shifted his priorities, he had given up his dreams of being a pilot, had given up practicing the instruments that he had loved to play. Instead he worked and when he was done that shift, went somewhere else to work. Don't get me wrong, he didn't regret a single moment, cause he was here now, knowing that every single cent that he earned went to their own dreams in their lives. Now, he was free from all that. They probably thought that he was dead in a ditch somewhere. Well, he was dead and they were probably doing just fine on their own. He hoped. Would he ever see them again?
Drawing his mind away from those thoughts, Kale came back to reality and the situation at hand.c How was he going to accommodate a werewolf in the house? Sure he adored Hannah as a friend, but he had never dealt with a werewolf on the full moon before. Maybe he would be able to tame it? Of course it couldn't kill him as only wooden stakes could do that, but it could always maim him or something like that. What were they going to do about that? He supposed that they could just clear out the house once a month and then clean up in the morning the mess in the morning and continue one as though it were a normal part of their lives, which of course it was. But that wouldn't really work unless he wanted to be buying new things every week like a tv, or a new kitchen table. Or god forbid his piano upstairs, or his collection of guitars. But then again, he probably could afford to do that. Every week in his mail he found a bundle of cash that was more than enough to help him scoot by. He had no idea who it was from but he liked to believe that it was from the vampire that bit him, like compensation or something like that. Anyways, they would have to figure out what to do during the full moon. Maybe she already had a system down pact that was working for her. If that was the cause, then Kale was more than happy to help her out with it if she needed the help of course.
After their quick hug, which surprised him more than a little bit, he stepped aside so she could enter his house. He was really lucky that he wasn't suddenly living with a human as it would awkward to explain why he needed permission to enter his own house. Who created the vampire flaws? Surely having to have permission to enter a living dwelling was the stupidest by far. Even though Hannah was alive, it seemed that her being a werewolf meant that all those flaws didn't apply to him in this situation. Closing the door behind her, he put his hands in back jean pockets before following her. Already the atmosphere in the house felt different. At her thanks he just shook his head. "I may be a vampire Han, but I'm not cruel." Coming up behind her, he took her bag from her, and motioned for her to go deeper into the house. Placing the bag down on the floor near the door, he then watched her go into the kitchen, and leaned on the doorway frame. "Hope you can cook as well as bake, cause you'll probably be the only one eating for the most part." Of course he could, and did eat normal food, but he felt weird afterwards. He was putting something into his body that it didn't need. It was like eating when you were bored, but eating when you were hungry instead. "Warning you now, there's no garlic in this house." Crossing his arms, he smiled at her. How was he going to introduce her to Matty? Hey Hannah, want to met the ten year old dead boy that lives with me? Nah, chances were Matty would more than likely introduce himself.

Despite her knowing about his little…blood-sucking problem, Hannah really didn’t know that much about being a vampire. Then again from what it seemed Kale was just as new as Hannah was to her current supernatural situation. But when he had told her she had been so relieved that she wasn’t the only one with several problems, that she hadn’t thought to really ask him any more than just the usual, so you actually drink blood right? He had reassured her that werewolves weren’t exactly their cup of tea; then again she couldn’t really blame him. Who would want to drink out of a person who had the tendency once a month to smell like wet dog? It was a turn off to say the least, even when talking about the appeal of one’s blood. The only thing she really knew about Kale was that he was nice, a vampire, and was attempting to quite blood cold turkey. She admired him for his perseverance, now if only she could quit being a werewolf Hannah would be golden.
Walking into the kitchen she opened a cupboard or two just to look inside for a moment before shutting them. With a smile she turned toward the tall vampire again, ”I’m a decent cook. At least I don’t burn grilled cheese and I consider that a win.” She said with a smile as she placed her hands on her hips. Baking she was good at, cooking was another story. Hannah wasn’t bad, she just wasn’t entirely knowledgeable or adventurous when it came to things other than baked goods. In the back of her head she wondered if there was a piano in the house, but then decided not to ask. She was afraid if she knew she might be tempted to play again. Thankfully Kale snapped her out of her thoughts when he mentioned the garlic and she laughed gently. ”Does that actually work? Not that I’m planning on repelling you, just curious.” The blond said with a smile. She never quite understood that particularly stereotype about vampires. After all how could garlic be so repulsive to them? Hannah understood it stunk but it seemed so trivial and strange for a creature so powerful to be vulnerable to a root.
Picking up she bag she headed up the stairs. ”So bedrooms up here? I’m eager to scatter my measly possessions across the room and consider myself unpacked.” She said with a gentle smile as she continued toward the bedrooms. Thankfully the first door she chose to open was the right one, she didn’t want to intrude on Kale’s private life. Then again she was now living in his house. Setting her bag down she flopped onto the mattress with a smile glancing over at him as she lay on the bed. “Thank you again…if there is ever anything I do to repay you let me know.” Hannah said looking at him seriously with blue eyes. She wanted to repay this debt she felt like she owed him, after all he had extended his home for her for an indefinite amount of time. How couldn’t she feel obligated to help him out? Obviously she wanted to do anything she could. Pulling out her few possessions she placed her cell phone on the bedside table realizing that because the full moon was a week away she should probably explain the situation to him, how her transformation worked. At least how she handled it.
”When I turn I go to a self storage unit I rent out and lock myself in. The walls are thick enough for no one to hear and most people aren’t around that time of night to be concerned about a few bumps in the night.” Hannah said with a smile hopefully reassuring him that she would never tear apart his home. It just felt wrong to change in someone’s home. It also reminded her of the first time she changed, screaming in pain on the floor in her house. Her parents unsure of what to do. If she could help it she tried to keep the mess and damage to a minimum. Hannah often made a trek out to the woods or self-contained units. But every so often the walls would break or she would run into deer. She would often wake up covered in dirt with no idea where she was. On occasion blood was involved, but was thankfully only that of another animal. Hannah would have killed herself before passing on the curse to anyone else. It wasn’t fair to say the least.

Before Hannah, and before Matty, the house had always felt cold and slightly dark, even when all the curtains were thrown back and light poured through the windows. If a human walked to this place, they probably would have believed that no one was living there. Since Kale was well... dead, so naturally, there wouldn't be that vibe of a lived in house. He had no aura, no presence so his house always felt empty. It also felt like a lair to him, somewhere that he didn't have to hide what he was, a place were he didn't want to hide what he was. And here, he couldn't hide from what he was. More than a few girls had accidentally died in his bedroom. He hadn't done it on purpose of course, but when you were trying to get laid, and not drinking blood. Well, lets just say it's not a pretty combination. More often than not when he closed his eyes he could see their faces swirl before his eyes.
Leaning against the archway into the kitchen, Kale watched Hannah with dark eyes. Hannah was lucky for being cursed as she was. Right now if he breathed in, all he would smell was a wet dog smell, and that immediately turned him off of any thoughts of drinking her blood. Even if she was human, he would still try and fight it, refusing to hear the blood pumping through her system. So he was glad that she wasn't human, but of course, Kale wouldn't wish being a werewolf on anyone. He rubbed the back of his neck as she looked through the cupboards. After the question that she knew he was going to ask, Kale smiled and laughed slightly. "Not in the way that your thinking. It... shows us for what we are, you know... Makes our fangs come out type thing." Kale shrugged and blushed slightly. There was thing that he was shy on, and it was the topic of fangs and whatnot. Because of novels and books, everyone seemed to think that vampires just had two sharp teeth that dropped into their mouths and when they feed, left two little pin holes. Kale wished. Instead, his face... changed, and lets just say a shark looked more alive than his eyes when he fed.
Coming back to reality, Kale nodded when she asked to see the upstairs. Following behind her, he watched her pick a room. There were a couple up here that weren't in use. When Kale had originally bought this place, there had been at least 7 people living here, so he had more than enough room to spare. Coming into the room, he sat down on a spinning chair that was there as she flopped down on the bed. Crossing his arms, he spun slightly and waved her comment off. "Just don't bite me or anything." He laughed lightly to tell her that he was joking. "I have no idea what your guy's bites do to us, and I have no desire to find out." Leaning forward, he ran a hand through his hair. So yeah, my room is just down the hall to the right, just in case you get scared in the middle of the night. " He told her just for formality, but Kale often wasn't in his room, more often sleeping on the couch, or up and around roaming the night. The night air cleared his head and lucky there weren't that many people out and about in the middle of the night. "Theres also a music room a few doors down. Guitars, a piano and a drumset, nothing special. " He leaned back, as she told him about her system and he nodded. Then he looked at her. "You know.. I've got a studio in the basement. It's pretty big and the walls are sound proof. If you ever get into trouble.... Dont be afraid to use it." And he was serious about that. If for whatever reason she couldn't make it to her trailers, or something else happened, he would be more than happy to lock her in the basement, he could afterall move his stuff down there into a new room. "Oh by the way there's someone else living here. He's.... a little different." He might as well tell her now about Matty so she didn't get freaked out later when she found him standing over her while she was sleeping, like Kale had a few nights ago.
